What Our Students Say
“Right away I tried to be active in the community. I participated in Student Council, track and cross country all 4 years, loved going to the Latin Club events, I’ve gone to all the dances and bowling parties and pretty much everything they offered. I’ve worked every summer at camp and during senior year I worked with the rec department. I’ve been the manager of the student store and traveled to Ashland, Japan, Greece, and Turkey.”
“Orion wasn’t just about making the grades and doing well, it was about trying to find out who I was as a person.”
“Miguel de Cervantes once said “Make it thy business to know thyself, which is the most difficult lesson in the world.” That quote pretty much sums up the Orion Academy experience for me. Orion wasn’t just about making the grades and doing well, it was about trying to find out who I was as a person. One thing that doesn’t change is the Orion spirit, the idea that we may all have these issues that set us apart from others, but that we’re all in it together. I’ve seen students grow closer here than at any other school I’ve been to, who have helped each other out in all kinds of situations- be they academic or social, and I love that. “
Enrolling in Orion Academy was easily the best thing that has ever happened to me, and my time here has been the best of my life. In just the first few weeks of my sophomore year, I gained more friends than I had in my entire life, and now I have more than I can count. I’ve had some of the best teachers, the best courses, and the best friends at this school. Orion’s courses have been both interesting and informal enough to peak my interest in completing assignments (most of the time).
“Life is about experiences, and a kid like me who struggles to understand social interactions, and is afraid of the reactions from others, would not have done well in a large, typical high school. I would have avoided everything that gave me anxiety and would have shut down again. Prom, travel, student council, and drama. These are just some of the things that I have enjoyed here.”
