Orion Academy Parent Teacher Organization 2021-2022 Executive Board
Linda Owczarz – President
Linda’s in her 3rd year as an Orion parent. Her son will be entering his ‘4th year’ at Orion and is eager to return to seeing his friends there. Linda lives with her family in Oakland and has continued to work and volunteer remotely for various organizations – including advocating for neuro-divergent students and scouts in her son’s scout troop and for non-profits, and supporting Orion’s PTO. She is an avid plant enthusiast, enjoys hiking & camping, sci-fi, and having in-depth conversations with her son about his favorite subjects. She is also looking forward to resuming our annual Orion events in person this year!
Heather Padgette – Vice President
Heather Clapp Padgette’s son is currently a junior at Orion. Heather, husband Rob, their two sons and border collie, Hayley, moved from the Washington DC area to Alameda in late 2017 and they are enjoying getting to know their new city, region and state. Rob works in transportation and serves as managing director of the Capital Corridor train line. Heather consults in the field of education reform and policy, and works with school districts, foundations, nonprofits and state and federal government agencies. She is currently serving as co-chair of the Alameda Special Education Family Support Group. She is very excited to get to know more Orion families, to learn more about local resources and supports for families, and to help support the school.
Linda Fazzio – Treasurer
Linda is in her fourth year at Orion. Her son is a senior. Her background is in corporate finance. Until recently, she volunteered with the Pleasanton USD Special Needs Committee. Linda also enjoys volunteering and working with teens at her church. She lives in Pleasanton with her husband, Mike, their son and pets: a golden retriever named Piper and a black and white cat named Domino. In her spare time, Linda enjoys hiking with her dog, working on her Bonsai trees, reading and knitting.
Jane Pak – Member-At-Large
Jane Pak’s son is currently a junior after having started at Orion during the pandemic in 10th grade. She lives in San Francisco with her partner Lucian, two sons, and dog Bean. Her background is in strategy, development, and research in education and refugee contexts. She serves as Co-Executive Director at Refugee and Immigrant Transitions and Adjunct Professor in the Master in Migration Studies program at the University of San Francisco. Outside of work, she loves water sports, mountains and camping and exploring with her family.
